Makura is a character designed for Saint Thibault Judo Club. It was inspired from japanese anime I used to watch as a kid. Its name means 'pillow' in Japanese. It also refers to one judo movement.
Since its creation, Makura has been adopted by the kids from the Judo Club. It represents the values of the sport and the joy of sharing good times with friends. This website is dedicated to Makura to give him life throughout different costumes.
Starting from this November 2010, everyday (for 300 days), a new Makura will be created and be posted on this website.
This number was chosen simply from the reference to the 300 Spartans story ^^
How will the different costumes to create will be chosen?
It will basically depends on my mood or on some ideas picked up from suggestions made by you on this website. So don't hesitate to request me your customised Makura!
Coming from an autodidact graphic designer background, under the name Sdach, I had worked on different design projects for small businesses and sport associations in France. Recently, I moved to Chicago to live one of my dreams and meet a new design culture.
With this 300 Makura project, I challenge myself to realise a long term design but I mostly doing it to share this Makura project with design lovers.
The 300 makura project is yours too.
You can take part of it by proposing the next step of this project or making some donations. With your help, I will start more Makura goodies(stickers, vinyl posters, tshirts, art toys, ...) to be available on this website.
So stay tuned ^^
